Disappointment

(27th Entry of My 500 Words Jeff Goins’ Daily Challenge. January 28, 2014)

Frankly I don’t entertain extra baggage let alone give serious look on negatives in life.  Dealing and relating all sorts of people accepting who they are has been my positive disposition giving me handsome dividend  at the end of a day – peace and contentment.  Priceless indeed compare to material possessions, mere temporary enjoyment you could never bring with you when you pass away.

Peace knowing how God created human beings giving us gifts and  freedom of choice encouraging to focus spotting on the positive giving their best shoot living albeit given only once. Contented  knowing moral persuasion and integrity are intact.  Problems?  Tell that to the marines. You want living without problems?  No way unless you are already buried six feet under the ground.  Ergo, accept all there is in  life the tougher the sailing, the better it gets.  Where have all the people with problem gone?  Countless of them,  in millions in fact spread all over the globe dead and buried except the undertaker holding on for dear life making the best of it.  Problems?  Yes sir, they are spices of life and how we deal it defines man’s true character.

If only people are consistent, I think this small world would be truly beautiful place to live in. Shangri-La or heaven.  Imagine prison cells empty no more politics, election and religion;  all people living in harmony and at peace with one another.  But that could only be in dreams aptly expressed by John Lennon’s “Imagine”. While we were created unto His own image and likeness however, there would always be wide disparity as far as your eyes could see revealing the true state of humanity.  Hence, the delegation of authority to people elected by the majority to put things in order, securing peace for everyone everywhere.  Who could protect too the innocent and civilians from the sporadic rebellion of the radical and firebrand terrorists if not people holding the reign of power and authority.

So, thanks for disappointment expressed into different forms and ramifications like problems, failure, setbacks and all that.  But isn’t it that the glory of man rests when he picks up where he left off after he falls down. Besides, who are the best teachers if not this life’s up and down giving us valuable lessons and wisdom how to move on?

Just read a dramatic anecdote of a Chinese herbalist who lived to the proud 256 years old.  Reminiscent of how Yahweh back then gives us long life span as recorded in the Old Testament.  This man had 20 wives and produced more than 200 children and grandchildren.  His winning surefire longevity formula – jealousy, lying, aggressiveness, reticence, cruelty, conflicts, apathy, rude, anxiety and greed are all deleted from the equation - . Apparently, the existence of these psychosomatic illnesses is all in the mind! Therefore, securing peace in your mind will eliminate those problems. Pure and simple. No ifs and buts.  How to do this?  The author gives three ways to live healthful lifestyles – start monitoring your thoughts, think more about things that make you happy and meditation.

God’s love is unconditional saving us from the power of sin.  I think there are other priorities in life we should be worry about to focus on other than looking at the bad sides of men.  Without you knowing it, this critical outlook could also exact heavy toll in our lives. Long and winding journey what would have been a light, swift and comfortable pilgrimage traveling home becomes heavy instead its weight dragging us back every time blistering pace is set leapfrogging our strides into the unknown.

Yes, I could practically relate with people from all walks of life. Why not? No two persons were created equal. Comparison, Desiderata would reveal makes us self-conceited and stupid given the inequality in life. Pedro might be better than Juan and Maria could be best among the three. How would we demolish then this apparent myth of inequality is the bottom line. Isn't it that God reminded us that humility is the precondition of all other  virtues? Unless we behave like a child or would have childlike attitude, we could not enter the Kingdom of God.

Such is our world, fragile, small  and beautiful place to live in.  It has even morphed into global village because of Information Technology explosion.  Why not then plant unity instead of division, peace instead of war, bridges instead of wall,  contentment rather than disappointments we could not bring along with us when our time of crossover comes.

Life is a challenge we all know this. That is what I hold dear taking all negative elements in stride.  Time heals too so what is there to rebel, harboring ill will and resent from our perceived enemies.  If they have given us disappointment, don’t fret.  For all we know, the guy has one positive character that far outweighs all negative attitudes on him. Just like the book of Leviticus, telling us duality existing in this world. As we learned, nothing in this world is sure except death and taxes. There is black and white, original and pirated, life and death. All of this though diametrically opposing each other but actually intertwined like the Yin and Yang giving us valuable lessons of patience, prudence and industry.

When you feel like the weight of the world is too much to bear, remember that such is negligible compare to the Love and power of the Lord given to us to exploit and harness for our own good.
