So far the fulcrum of public opinion as it has always been the trend was as usual favor Vhong Navarro. So lopsided that the survey in the internet scores it 96% to 4% validating the unconfirmed innocence of Navarro. The public perception so far today has died down a little bit registering 81% to still surprisingly the same 4% Deniece/Cedric Lee with 15% of the respondents not meddling the issue this time. The numbers too in facebook and other social media involving six familiar episodes on the issue accumulated millions and still counting page views per site. But what is alarming on this is that this trend obviously are getting the public into the issue without yet waiting the final result.
Hear a sample of my composition, "Duyog Na."
We’ve been into this I think and this is explainable because celebrities are public figures. That we are tax payers should have at stake with their public lives could also be a valid argument. But where would we draw the line between public opinion and legality of the issue? Where now is the legal provision of “state of innocence until proven guilty beyond the shadow of doubt” protected as enshrined in our Constitution?
Where
is our sense of impartiality on the issue? Lahat tayo ay nagiging judge na rin, thus said ABS-CBN
Anthony Taberna himself an opinionated reporter enjoying the circus that is
Vhong-Deniece issue. This blogger definitely would not like crossing the
boundary messing up with the legal
process at the expense what otherwise the final arbiter of the issue. Let’s
just wait for the Court’s verdict, Atty. Calleja calmly enjoined. It’s just unthinkable how public are so
partial and onion-skinned their emotions fly soaring up high easily swayed by
the pervading collective opinion while
the party are still awaiting the result of the investigation.
Unfortunately,
even students jumped easily into the
fray. Opening the issue the other day at Bukidnon State University, Malitbog
External to which this blogger has been a guest lecturer put me in the
defensive short of being pilloried at will knowing that I’m for Deniece while
waiting the result of the investigation. One student was even quick to a draw
revealing that lopsided 96%-4% result of survey favoring Vhong Navarro; that
most likely there was no rape (or attempt of rape) as the video by NBI revealed
just a measly one minute lapse before Denise and party left the room etc. A little nasty thought could be in order
here. Why not? How about if Vhong’s top was on the verge of explosion as he was
even notified early on yet. Have you read Irving Wallace’ “The Seven Minutes?”
But asked if Deniece was lying that sexual harassment was in progress when Cedric Lee and company broke into her room, the answer was deafening. How about that video then showing that short span of time Vhong Navarro could most unlikely pursue what his libido brimming at that time forced him to? Well, the Video was from NBI and most likely would have been edited so why not just wait for the result of an investigation to settle once and for all the issue. Problem is Filipinos are that unpredictable lot. They are like carts put into the horse.
Tell
what would happen to this country if we have that system go on unabated. And
what if celebrities are proven guilty only they have the money to buy the
silence of affected party. Have you heard Sen. Tito Sotto, Vic, Joey who were
slapped of rape against sexy Pepsi Paloma? How about "Amazing Kap," Sen. Bong
Revilla pulling his FAMAS award antics and stunts during his privilege speech
revealing his innocence at the Senate on graft and corruption charged against
him. Here’s the danger of ordinary tax paying public jumping into the fray
without knowing the validity of issue at stake.
Where
indeed this country goes given how public opinion mess up with otherwise serious issues
belonging to the jurisdiction of the Court. Surprising too why the Court does
not use its inherent power of securing the bar of justice by issuing contempt
on personalities engaging in public forum.
On
Deniece’s side, her lawyer requested too of posting Vhong Navarro’s picture at
the airport. Similary, Deniece opened a new blogsite with her instagram and biting
posts defending her cause. What Vhong is talking about justice when he is not even
man enough acknowledging his sexual advances to her. Her blogsite too has
registered more than four thousands FB friends rallying her the cause of women
against influential personalities to secure their rightful place in society.
But
of course, there are kibitzers begging the question like requiring her to look
into the mirror face to face examining her latest actuation asking forgiveness
from God how in the world she appears bringing on her cause when her first name
spelling beauty are suspect.
Indeed,
the hostility is on between the two celebrities and one would be seen last
standing in the bar of justice. Who could that be? Let’s just don’t force the
issue alright. Let the wheel of justice grinds
until the result comes out.
